Visitors to the Menil Collection have a rare opportunity this fall to experience works from the museum’s Surrealist collection in dialogue with one of the movement’s major figures – Salvador Dalí. On loan from the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, the artist’s 1932 painting, Eggs on the Plate Without the Plate, greets viewers on a wall by itself as they enter the first of three galleries reinstalled for this special exhibition. Curated by Assistant Curator Clare Elliott and consisting of some 30 works by 12 artists, The Secret of the Hanging Egg: Salvador Dalí at the Menil opened on November 5, 2015 and will remain on view through June 19 of next year.

The Chinese billionaire and patron Adrian Cheng plans to launch a major exhibition in Shanghai of works by Salvador Dalí lent by the Fundación Gala-Salvador Dalí. Cheng’s K11 Art Foundation and the Spanish-based foundation have joined forces to stage Media-Dalí, which is due to open on November 5 (until February 15, 2016). 

The exhibition will be held at the chi K11 Art Museum in the basement of the K11 art mall, which is owned by Cheng’s family-run company, New World Development.

The National Arts Club presents a rare collection of work from Spanish surrealist, Salvador Dali. The month-long free exhibition, entitled "Dali: The Golden Years," celebrated its opening with a reception on Wednesday February 4th between 6pm - 8pm to which the general public was invited.

The exhibition will show 65 pieces in total, including early works that have never been shown before on loan from private collectors. Early drawings and prints make up three full collections including; "The Les Chants Maldoror" (1934), "12 Tribes of Israel" (1971), and "Memories of Surrealism" (1973). Each marks a major graphic series in Dali's career, while four never-before-seen pieces and an iconic photo of the artist himself by Anton Perich provide invaluable insight into Dali's creative process.

Christie’s is to auction a unique selection of rare works on paper from the Triton Collection Foundation, spanning over three centuries of art history and representing the most important avant-garde movements of the 19th and 20th Century, including works by Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne, Fernand Léger, Francis Picabia, Gino Severini, Odilon Redon, André Derain and Salvador Dalí, many of the works on paper will be offered at auction for the first time. Forty nine of the works will be sold in the single owner evening sale Exceptional Works on Paper from the Triton Collection Foundation on March 25, 2015 in Paris during the Salon du Dessin. This will be followed by a further selection of works will be offered across auctions in Paris and London throughout 2015 and early 2016.

Arguably the two most influential 20th century Spanish artists, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, come together in this landmark exhibition at The Dali Museum in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. Organized by The Dali and the Museu Picasso, Barcelona with the collaboration of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dali, “Picasso/Dali, Dali/Picasso” runs through February 16, 2015.

The exhibit features rarely loaned works from more than 20 international museums and collectors worldwide. There are over 90 works in the exhibit including a large assortment of paintings, as well as drawings, prints and sculpture plus archival documents such as postcards from Dali to Picasso. After its premier at The Dali, the exhibit will be on display at the Museu Picasso, Barcelona from March 19-June 28, 2015.

Eric Wimmer was in shock when he stepped into a Casper home full of art.

The curator of the Nicolaysen Art Museum was visiting the home in March because its owner, who recently died, had donated his vast collection to the Nic. Wimmer entered and was immediately greeted by a painting.

Was that an authentic Thomas Moran?

Wimmer has a master’s degree in art history. In grad school, Moran, a titan in Western art, was one of his all-time favorites. He’d spend hours at a Denver art museum looking at Moran’s paintings, and now there was one sitting right in front of him in the foyer of the Casper home.

Even an art novice would recognize the names of such masters as Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.

This summer, they’ll get a chance to see some of the best works of art of these masters and more assembled in one exhibit at Buffalo’s Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

"Sincerely Yours: Treasures of the Queen City" opens Saturday with a free community event and runs through mid-September. It offers visitors a rare opportunity to see 70 master works from such famed painters as van Gogh, Picasso and Warhol along with Giacomo Balla, Salvador Dali, Paul Gauguin, Frida Kahlo, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko - all of them part of the Albright-Knox permanent collection.

Isabelle Collin Dufresne, the French-born artist, actress and author known as Ultra Violet, the beauty among the superstars of Andy Warhol’s glory days at his studio, the Factory, died early Saturday morning at a Manhattan hospital. She was 78 and lived in Manhattan and in Nice, France.

The death was confirmed by William Butler, a family friend. A cousin, Carole Thouvard Revol, said the cause was cancer.
