The Park Avenue Armory has announced an ambitious lineup for the 2015 season including mammoth installations, artist commissions, and cross-disciplinary collaborations from artists including Philippe Parreno, Olafur Eliasson, Laurie Anderson and Marina Abramovic.

The season launches in March with FLEXN, a commission co-directed by Reggie "Regg Roc" Gray and director Peter Sellars focused on street dance. It will be followed by a work from Philippe Parreno that promises to "radically morph the exhbition tradition by enveloping the viewer and the Armory's building into the artwork itself," according to a release from the Armory.

The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, known for daring installations that can stretch as long as a football field, will announce Monday a group of long-term projects with some of the country’s most prominent living artists, including Laurie Anderson, James Turrell and Jenny Holzer, as well as a partnership with the foundation of the late post-abstract expressionist Robert Rauschenberg.

When the roughly $55 million project is completed in 2017, Mass MoCA will be the largest contemporary art museum in the country, with more than 250,000 square feet of gallery space. It will also be one of the most eclectic, with a campus that features everything from rock and bluegrass festivals to dance premieres and a 27,000-square-foot building devoted to the drawings of conceptual artist Sol LeWitt.

Lydia Yee will join Whitechapel, the century-old London gallery, as its new chief curator, the gallery has announced. Since 2007, Ms. Yee has been a curator at Barbican Art Gallery, where she’s presented exhibitions such as “Bauhaus: Art as Life” and “Laurie Anderson, Trisha Brown, Gordon Matta-Clark: Pioneers of the Downtown Scene.”

“I am very honoured to be joining the Whitechapel Gallery, which has long been a reference point for me as a curator,” she said.

New York’s Museum of Arts and Design (formerly the American Craft Museum) is currently hosting its inaugural “NYC Makers: The MAD Biennial,” an exhibition that highlights the city’s vast and varied creative communities. The first show to be organized under the leadership of the museum’s new Director Glenn Adamson, “NYC Makers” spotlights the work of 100 artisans, artists, and designers, living and working in New York City. The roster runs the gamut from famous creative figures such as performance artist Laurie Anderson and multimedia artist/singer-songwriter Yoko Ono to furniture designers, fashion designers, and architects.

The goal of the exhibition is to further the museum’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship across all creative fields, promoting not only makers who exhibit their work in a museum setting, but also those who operate behind the scenes or on a more practical level. Makers featured in the exhibition were nominated by a pool of over 300 New York City-based cultural leaders, including curators, choreographers, academics, and journalists. Finalists were hand-picked by a jury led by Adamson and exhibition curator Jake Yuzna, the museum’s Director of Public Programs, based on their mastery of their respective craft.
