Iris van Herpen’s work has always pushed the boundaries of art and fashion, being so often more conceptual than wearable, so it seems fitting that her oeuvre will soon be presented stateside in an exhibition.

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta announced November 20 that it will exhibit the work of the cutting-edge Dutch fashion designer, who was the first to successfully embrace 3D-printed fashion, and was most recently inspired by the Large Hadron Collider for her Spring-Summer 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al-Thani, the former minister of culture and heritage in Qatar, who spent more than $1bn (£630m) of the oil rich country's money on art, has died aged 48. A cousin of Qatar's current Emir, Sheikh Al-Thani was in charge of developing libraries and museums. According to "The Art Newspaper," between 1997 and 2005, he spent more than any other individual on art. Details of his death have not been announced.

His huge collection is spread across five existing and planned museums: the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Library, the Natural History Museum, a Photography Museum, and a museum for traditional textiles and clothing.

The explicit subject of Frederick Wiseman’s magnificent documentary “National Gallery” is the stately museum that rises at the northern end of Trafalgar Square in London. Like most of Mr. Wiseman’s work, the movie is at once specific and general, fascinating in its pinpoint detail and transporting in its cosmic reach. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosted its fourth annual Art+Film Gala on Saturday, November 1, 2014, honoring artist Barbara Kruger and Academy Award–winning director Quentin Tarantino. Co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, the evening brought together more than 600 distinguished guests from the art, design, entertainment, fashion, and music industries, among others. The evening raised $3.85 million, with proceeds supporting LACMA’s film initiatives and future exhibitions, acquisitions, and programming. The 2014 Art+Film Gala was made possible through the generous support of Gucci.

Eva Chow, co-chair of the Art+Film Gala, said "It was a truly remarkable event that saw people from the art, music, and fashion communities coming together to pay tribute to Barbara Kruger and Quentin Tarantino, two artists who push boundaries and ask questions.

Gary Nader has always felt Miami’s art and culture network was missing something: a museum dedicated to showcasing Latin American media. So he decided to create his own.

Nader, a local art collector with a gallery in Wynwood, revealed plans this week to build a Latin American Art Museum at a still-to-be-determined location in downtown Miami. The museum, he said, will feature about 600 paintings, drawings and sculptures from his personal collection. “The influence of Latin America in the U.S. is extremely prominent,” he said. “We want to tell the story."

An art collection amassed by the late movie star Lauren Bacall, including eight sculptures by Henry Moore, will go under the hammer next year in New York, Bonhams auction house said on Friday.

Bacall, the husky voiced actress who was married to and appeared with Humphrey Bogart in films such as "The Big Sleep" and "Key Largo," died in August in New York at the age of 89.

The Bacall Collection, estimated to be worth $3 million, will be sold at Bonhams in March 2015.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is going east — far east, for The Costume Institute’s spring 2015 exhibition, to be titled “Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion.”
