The Armory Show Appoints a New Executive Director

Ever since Noah Horowitz announced in July that he was stepping down as head of the Armory Show, the art world has wondered who would replace him at a time when that mammoth fair for Modern and contemporary art faces increasing competition from Frieze New York.

ow there is a decision: Benjamin Genocchio, the editor in chief of Artnet News, will become the fair’s executive director next month, in time to put his stamp on the Armory Show on Piers 92 and 94 in March.

After the terrorist attacks that hit Paris the night of November 13th which led the French government to declare of a State of Emergency, Paris Photo was obliged to close its doors Saturday and Sunday November 14-15th, thus depriving the event of more than 25,000 expected visited during the course of the final two days of the Fair.

Aside from the shock and sadness that was shared by all, these tragic events had a direct impact on the activity of the galleries and that of the fair.

A Look at Art Basel Miami Beach’s Top Sales

"I wish I brought a lot more art," said New York art dealer Sean Kelly toward the end of the latest edition of Art Basel in Miami Beach. "We had a phenomenal fair."

Based on reports from dealers this weekend, the pace of both major and middle market sales continued at the same brisk pace that marked the VIP preview Wednesday, December 2 and continued on the following day.

The International Fine Art & Antiques Show is shaking things up for its 27th iteration. Held at the distinguished Park Avenue Armory from October 23–29, 2015, the fair will debut a new name and logo as well as an updated marketing aesthetic. Now simply called The International Show, the fair, which has historically featured fine art and antiques, will also include twentieth century and contemporary art and design. Paris Photo Releases Its 2015 Exhibitor List

Paris Photo, the premier international art fair for works in the photographic medium, has announced a list of 168 exhibitors from 35 countries including 147 galleries and 26 art book dealers for its 19th edition which take place at Paris’s Grand Palais from November 12-15.

This year’s fair includes 30 solo and duo shows, including: Bruno Serralongue and Torbjørn Rødland, presented by AIR DE PARIS, Paris; Brassaï, presented by KARSTEN GREVE, Paris; Jean-Baptiste Huynh presented by LELONG, Paris; and James Welling, presented by PETER FREEMAN, New York.

The ADAA Art Show Releases Its 2016 Exhibitor List

Seventy-two galleries, including such stalwarts as Pace, Matthew Marks, Acquavella, and Sean Kelly, are among those who will show at the 28th annual Art Dealers Association of America art fair next year. Slated for March 2–6, 2016 at the Park Avenue Armory, the ADAA Art Show announced its list of exhibitors in a release today. The fair’s opening gala will benefit the Henry Street Settlement, the Lower East Side social-service nonprofit.
