The Hammer Museum announced on Wednesday exhibition plans for winter and spring that include the first L.A. solo show for Mexican artist Pedro Reyes and the first American show for the London-based Heatherwick architecture studio.

Another first: "Charles Gaines: Gridwork 1974-1989," which comes to the Hammer from the Studio Museum in Harlem, and opens Feb. 7. It represents the first comprehensive survey of the prominent conceptual artist's work while he lived and taught in Fresno, before he came to Los Angeles.

ICA Miami Announces Inaugural Exhibition Schedule

Last week the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) announced that Suzanne Weaver would be its interim director and Alex Gartenfeld would take on the role of deputy director and chief curator. Now the fledgling museum has announced that its inaugural exhibitions will feature artists Pedro Reyes and Andra Ursuta. The shows will be up from December 3 through March 2015 and be completely free to the public. Expect an opening party for the Miami Basel crowd on December 2.

The ICA Miami is temporarily located in the Miami Design District’s Moore Building while the Board of Trustees continue to search for a permanent home.
