Five architectural firms are on the shortlist to design the Louvre’s new storage facility, planned to open near the museum’s satellite in Lens, northern France. Corinne Vezzoni & Assoc and Zig Zag architecture, both from France, Neutelings Riedijk Architecten from the Netherlands, Roger Stirk Harbour + Partners from the UK and Estudio Arquitectura Baeza from Spain were chosen from 173 applicants.

In September 2013, then-minister of culture Aurélie Filippetti announced that the Louvre would move works held in a basement storage area on the banks of the River Seine due to the risk of flooding.

The board of the performing arts center planned for ground zero has scuttled the design for the building by Frank Gehry, the project’s original architect, and will instead select a design from a field of three finalists.

“We’re in the process of selecting a new architect,” said John E. Zuccotti, the real estate developer who is the chairman of the arts center’s board. “Three architectural firms are being considered.”

Officials at the Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center said they were not ready to name the finalists but confirmed that the list did not include Mr. Gehry.

London-based creative design consultancy Universal Design Studio have been announced as the architectural team for Frieze London 2014.

Universal Design Studio was founded in 2001 by Edward Barber, OBE and Jay Osgerby, OBE to focus on architecture and interiors, building upon their award-winning product and furniture design portfolio.

In previous years the fair has employed a series of globally recognised architectural firms: Carmody Groarke (2011–2013), Caruso St John (2008-2010), Jamie Fobert (2006–2007) and David Adjaye (2003-2005).
